ISMC 2025: Diazoma signs an unforgettable conference organization in Chania

ISMC 2025 in Chania: an International Scientific Meeting

From September 29 to October 3, 2025, Chania hosted the 9th International Soft Matter Conference (ISMC 2025), one of the most important international scientific gatherings in the field of soft matter. The conference took place at the impressive Minoa Palace Resort in Platanias, providing an ideal environment for scientific exchange, networking, and collaboration.

The success of a well-organized conference

The conference was organized by Diazoma, which took care of every detail—from managing registrations and the program to supporting speakers and ensuring the smooth flow of sessions. With 520 participants from over 30 countries, ISMC 2025 was a true celebration of science and human collaboration.

Poster Session and Awards

The scientific program included dozens of invited and oral presentations, as well as a Poster Session that stood out for the enthusiasm and quality of the presentations. Young researchers had the opportunity to present their work and discuss it with established scientists, and awards were given at the end of the session for the best posters.

Gala Dinner at Alkion Estate

The highlight came with the Gala Dinner, held at the beautiful Alkion Estate. Participants enjoyed an evening of Cretan cuisine, live music, traditional dances, and genuine hospitality, creating moments of joy and relaxation after a full week of scientific activity.

One of the highlights was the Gala Dinner at the traditional village of Arolithos. Delegates had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of an authentic Cretan settlement, enjoy local cuisine, and explore the island’s cultural heritage. The evening was filled with music, dance, and smiles, giving the conference a festive and memorable dimension.

Study Tour: Cretaquarium & Spinalonga

The conference experience concluded with a unique study tour. Participants visited Cretaquarium, one of the most important marine centers in the Mediterranean, where they discovered the richness of marine life and the scientific research carried out there.

They then traveled to Spinalonga, the historic island that touches visitors with its moving history and captivates them with its unique atmosphere. These experiences offered delegates not only knowledge but also unforgettable images and emotions.

Geography Field Trip 2025 in Sfakia

From May 3 to 10, an educational field trip was held in Crete, with the participation of students and teachers from Lincoln. The goal of the trip was to experientially approach geographical, social and environmental issues through on-site activities.

The trip began with an arrival in Chania and included walks in the city and a visit to the Archaeological Museum, connecting the urban space with its historical background. In the following days, the participants studied natural phenomena, such as tsunami deposits on Balos beach and signs of flooding in the Ilinga gorge.

The visit to abandoned villages, such as north of Chora Sfakia, opened discussions on the risks to the built environment and human vulnerability. The program culminated with presentations and exchange of experiences, offering a valuable pedagogical experience in the field.

The trip concluded with a final stop in Falasarna and a return to the United Kingdom, leaving participants with knowledge, impressions and a deeper understanding of the place and the topics studied.

20TH Satelite Aniversary Meeting

We had the pleasure of celebrating 20 years of the Satelite Meeting in Heraklion, on July 4–5, at the Aquila Atlantis Hotel.
Two full days of engaging scientific sessions, inspiring talks, and meaningful exchanges — along with memorable moments outside the venue, including a visit to Spinalonga and two exceptional dinners that brought everyone together in a festive spirit.
A heartfelt thank you to all who participated and made the LNCO 20th Anniversary Meeting truly special!
